YouTube Censorship? [Updated/Downsized]

Crossposted at the home of troll free bloggin', Motley Moose

[Downsized] I deleted a couple of Tubes for brevity.

I just met YouTube a few months ago, and since then I have started a love affair with this medium. While much of it is crap and parts are kinda scary, I have seen some of the coolest, most imaginative and responsive venues possible. As far as I am concerned, YouTube rocks.

So when a bit of a controversy broke out this past week, I was uncertain as to what was even happening, and before I could even investigate, it ended. So please, follow this strange little tubing tale and if you are so inclined, tell me what you think about these events that occured in another part of the Internetsphere, in a place outside of Left Blogistan.

I won't be commenting much this time, as I hope the tubes will tell the story on their own. So please follow me down the rabbit hole, enjoy and I hope, think about this...

Oh Noes...Where's the Funny?!

I am kind of bummed today. I am missing something very important to me, and am not sure when I will find it again. You see, I must laugh often, and my favorite target is almost painfully absent.

I can be a bit too serious and have learned that I must seek out humor as much as I can. When I was a Child Protection Investigator, the need for humor was absolute. My favorite kind of humor has always been political, and it really is the only time I can make fun of people without feeling bad.

Suddenly I am lost. Suddenly there isn't really anyone to laugh at in politics. I am not a mean person, but my most aggressive and evil tendencies do come out during elections. Herein lies my conundrum.

Ask Not...

I have a couple of important issues that I want addressed by our new President. God, after eight long years, it feels so good to call someone President again. President Obama.

However, I am going to skip over my desires and speak to something I think our new President needs. Something our country needs. Something our world needs.

A Letter to our Future

What are we going to do after the election? I premise this on an Obama win. I know it has been a long two+ years and no matter who you supported in the beginning, I am almost certain that we will be welcoming President Barack Obama on January 20, 2009. I could write another diary asking what we do if John McCain wins, but I will save that for a dark and anxious night later this week.

Right now I am excited as I can be about the potential opportunity I see before us. I cannot help but feel we have a chance for a new era in our country that could rival that of Franklin Delano Roosevelt. I also know this will not happen unless we make it so. I believe that President Obama will be the perfect vehicle toward restoring our country, but we can do nothing as long as the moneyed interests still own the government. By this I mean Democratic and Republican aspects of the government.

We all know how it is. Nothing should surprise us anymore. However, for the first time in my lifetime, I feel that we have a chance to reclaim our Constitution and our government for her citizens.

I Feel Like a Republican

Wow. It's 6:00 am and I am watching Morning Joe. I don't normally watch the show, but have learned to hate Joe Scarborough less than I did years ago. I have even begun to appreciate his independent lens a bit lately. This morning he does seem to be a bit cranky.  Joe does not seem to be very happy about the Obama campaign and in fact seems to be feeling quite the victim today. Joe and the other red stater's on the show are actually crying about how much more money Obama has, and they are moaning about how the media is giving Obama an unfair advantage.

Huh. This must be what it feels like to be a republican. I feel really good about the election. We are not only beating the McCain campaign by raising funds, we are ahead in every possible (and a few improbable) states, and we have a ground game unlike anything ever seen before.

And yet I am at odds with myself. I am very stressed out about the election. I try to think of all the ways we could lose (and there are many). This is the original Democrat in me. Sometimes I think that a person has to be able to take a lot of pain in order to be an actual Democrat. I laughed earlier at Joe, because I have been there. I have cried about what a shitty candidate we had, and how we could not even begin to raise the kind of dollars the republicans could easily capture. Democrats usually had a better ground game, but we have been denied even that over the past two presidential elections.

Ok Spaceman, spark one up and enjoy.

Obama is a Terrorist?????

Pat Buchanan is on a tear. He wants McCain and Palin to really put it to Obama, and sees nothing wrong with making Obama seem anti-American and very, very frightening.

I saw Pat on Hardball yesterday and today Chris Matthews dissected Buchanan and this approach. Matthews blew open, the largely successful tactic, of the the republican party to de-Americanize the Democratic candidate for the past twenty or more years. The exchange was amazing as Matthews dismissed Buchanan and we watched Pat's head kind of explode. I will post the video if I can find it.

Since the republicans have been ramping this issue up over the past week, I have wondered why it is never a problem for the republican candidate for President to be associated with lunatics. And never forget, however cuddly Pat seems, he is a Right Wing Nut Job (RWNJ). See for yourself...

This is the Issue

"Because he's black"

Richard Trumka gives one of the best responses to this "concern" I have heard. Please watch the video, I found it incredibly moving. I am pleased to see CNN delving into this issue today and am grateful that they played this clip. I am a proud American who wants to share it with all of you.
